Esophageal and Airway Stent Technique Spotlights for the Interventional Pulmonologist and Thoracic Surgeon

A 36-year-old male presented with hiccups, dysphagia, and a 10-pound weight loss over 2 months. He was evaluated with endoscopy and was found to have an 8 cm malignant tumor in the lower third of the esophagus. The biopsy was consistent with poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma. On review of his symptoms, the patient had dysphagia to solids, and was only able to tolerate a liquid diet.
